Craft Culture + Albion Malleable Brewing Company
Comradery in Craft
One of the biggest draws to opening a brewery — and craft beer in general — is the culture and community that surrounds it. In Jackson, we’ve seen Grand River Brewery blaze a trail and introduce quite a few people in our town to the local craft beer scene.
John, the owner of Grand River Brewery, has been generous toward us since announcing plans to open our brewery just a few minutes down the street from his establishment. He could have turned his head, ignored us and went about his (successful and growing) business. But that hasn’t been the case at all. The man has truly followed through on his words to help us “however he can.” More on that in a future post.
It’s been exciting to watch their success and the growth of craft enthusiasts over the years. We’re equally as excited to have begun building our collaborative relationship with Grand River and hope to do the same with the other regional breweries in time.
Malleable in Albion
A new brewery just a few miles west of Jackson, Albion Malleable Brewing Company, is set to open their doors on May 21, 2018. These are some great people with a seriously awesome space in downtown Albion. It’s wide open, has an industrial feel but finished off with great detail and some killer signage. It’s legitimately dope in there.
Needless to say, we had to check it out before they opened. So we headed down I-94 to scope their system, the pub space and to get to know the owners.
Within minutes of meeting their crew, congratulating them on Malleable and mentioning our brewery in planning to them, the owners were writing down contact info and sharing advice to help us through our own funding and opening process. Not even a moment of hesitation.
This type of warmness and willingness to help is not common in most industries. And just one example of why the craft beer industry is something special.
Enjoy a few more photos of Malleable Brewing and definitely take the trip over to Albion after May 21 to support a new brewery and try out their drafts.
You know we’ll be over there.
